Controller Description
Our client, a privately owned specialty construction company ($15-$20M), is looking for a Controller to join their team just outside of Estero, FL. Given the specialized nature of their work, they operate in a relatively unique market with limited direct competition, providing a level of stability that can be difficult to find in the construction industry.
This is more than a traditional Controller role. The owner is looking for someone who can take ownership of the financial function, help him understand what is happening in the business and bring ideas to the table. You’ll have a lot of visibility into the business and will be expected to ask questions, dig into the numbers and understand what is really driving them. There is an opportunity to improve processes, systems and controls, so this is a good fit for someone who enjoys figuring out what isn’t working and putting a better process in place. You’ll need to be comfortable being hands-on with the details while also stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. If you’re looking for a role where you can maintain the status quo, this probably isn’t the opportunity for you. If you’re looking for a new challenge where your opinion will not only be valued, but sought after, this could be a great match.
