Director of Manufacturing Operations Description
Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Director of Manufacturing Operations to join their team in East Dallas, near Mesquite, TX. This newly created role will lead approximately 40 employees across production, supply chain, inventory, quality, and continuous improvement, through three direct report managers. You will build the operating systems needed to support continued growth, with an emphasis on improving production flow, standardizing work, strengthening material availability, and reducing order-to-ship lead times. The operation is low-volume, high-mix, and highly customized, making experience applying lean principles in complex manufacturing environments critical. Our client is looking for a manufacturing leader who has led multiple functions and personally delivered measurable improvements from batch production toward flow. Director of Manufacturing Operations Responsibilities
• Lead production, supply chain, inventory, quality, and facilities
• Develop production flow, capacity, scheduling, and standard work systems
• Reduce order-to-ship lead times and improve on-time delivery
• Build material replenishment, point-of-use, and inventory systems
• Improve supplier performance, sourcing, material availability, and lead times
• Move quality controls upstream to reduce defects reaching final testing
• Establish daily management and structured problem-solving systems
• Lead lean improvements across low-volume, high-mix production
• Develop operations leaders and an approximately 40-person team
• Build capacity to support growth without proportional labor or space increases
Director of Manufacturing Operations Qualifications
• 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience required
• 5+ years leading multiple manufacturing departments, including production, required
• Low-volume, high-mix or complex assembly experience required
• Experience leading production flow improvements or measurable lead-time reduction required
• Experience implementing and sustaining lean management practices in manufacturing required
• Experience scaling production capacity or output required
• Manufacturing ERP proficiency required
